Mr. Asbill joined McPherson & Jacobson as the New Mexico representative in 2000. Mr. Asbill is the superintendent of the Carlsbad Municipal Schools in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He is a life-long educator, starting his career in Breckenridge, Texas, before moving to New Mexico in 1969. He taught and coached in Tucumcari and Artesia, New Mexico, for 10 years before becoming an administrator, serving for 9 years as assistant principal of a high school and 4 years as a middle school principal. He has been a superintendent for the past 14 years, serving eight of those years in Cloudcroft, New Mexico, and the past six in Carlsbad.
He received his Baccalaureate Degree from McMurry University in Abilene, Texas, in Business and Physical Education and his Master's in School Administration from Western New Mexico University. He served as president of the New Mexico School Superintendent's Association in 1995 and president of the New Mexico Coalition of School Administrators in 1996. He was chosen as Superintendent of the Year in 1996 for New Mexico and represented New Mexico in the National Superintendent of the Year Program.
Mr. Asbill is an active leader in the United Way, Boy Scouts, Rotary, and the United Methodist Church. He also serves on the New Mexico State Superintendent's Advisory Board and is active in the American Association of School Administrator's Century Club. He is married to Kate Null Asbill, EdD., who specializes in staff development and leadership.
